Atlanta Fisher was appointed as an Apprentice on 3rd October 2016 and is based within the Ashton Locality.  Atlanta is very new to the office environment having previously trained and gained qualifications in equine and stable management but has decided to change her career path to work in Administration.  She chose an apprenticeship as she wanted to gain skills in a business environment whilst earning and gaining a qualification.


Since starting her apprenticeship she feels that she has developed new skills especially in communication with both clients and colleagues. Her personal highlights have been fitting into the team and learning about the different Community services.


Atlanta was given a detailed training programme so that she could keep track and monitor her own progress. By having the programme, Atlanta has gained both confidence and knowledge. She is progressing well with her NVQ level 2 in Business Administration, the Training Assessor completes review visits every 4 to 6 weeks to discuss progress against agreed objectives and amends plans accordingly in order to keep her qualification on target. Atlanta works closely with her manager to ensure she has the support she requires and she also attends regular team meetings and 1 to 1 reviews. Atlanta has a positive attitude when given performance related feedback and she is very keen to improve and expand her understanding of processes and procedures.

Atlanta has attended many different mandatory training courses, both classroom based and e-learning, these include Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults, Information Governance and Basic Life Support. All of the above courses will help her gain the knowledge and confidence needed to provide effective, efficient, quality and compassionate care for our clients.


Atlanta is enjoying the opportunity to learn new skills and is being given a diverse range of training to incorporate front facing and back office processes. This range of skills will help her progress to the level where she is able to apply for a permanent post within the Admin and Clerical service in the NHS.  Whilst working for one particular team Atlanta was given a compliment from a patient, he thanked her for her professional handling of his call, for helping him to sort out a problem and then for ringing him back promptly in order to book the appointment.


Atlanta is quick to learn and is growing in confidence with all the new information gained and experiences she has been given.


Once Atlanta has completed 9 months of her apprenticeship, she will be looking for band 2 vacancies within the trust to apply for a permanent A&C post. Atlanta’s manager hopes that she will remain with the Community Admin and Clerical service as she has proved to be an asset within the locality.
