The Trust received a delivery of 30,000 aprons along with visors and hand sanitiser donated by the charity Mail Force.
The delivery of personal protective equipment (PPE) will be distributed throughout the Trust to key workers who need it, including the hospital and community staff.
Following the delivery to the Trust, the consignment then went on to Tameside Council for distribution in local care homes.
The charity was set up by the Daily Mail and supported by members of the public as well as famous and high profile supporters who all want to help protect front line key workers.
Karen James, Chief Executive at Tameside and Glossop IC NHS FT said: “We are delighted to be in receipt of this PPE delivery from Mail Force and for the very generous contributions made to the charity by members of the public. The outbreak of COVID-19 has seen the whole country come together, a real show of community and this is another fantastic example of that. This PPE consignment will be of great help to us, especially given the fact we don’t know if we will see a second peak in new infections of the virus.”
