Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS FT appeals for items for Comfort Packs for patients
04 April 2020

Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS FT is appealing for items that can be used to make comfort packs for patients who are staying in hospital during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Currently, there are restrictions on visiting due to COVID-19, so the Trust hopes that the new comfort packs will help patients have a more comfortable stay in hospital.

The Trust is appealing to any organisations who could help support the creation of these comfort packs. The sorts of items that are needed for the comfort packs are:

  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Moisturiser and hand cream
  • Body wash
  • Books
  • Magazines
  • Puzzle books
  • Pens
  • Playing cards
  • Ear plugs
  • Eye masks
  • Hot chocolate sachets
  • Bags to put the packs in

Chief Executive, Karen James said, “patients currently in hospital in Tameside have heavy restrictions in terms of visitors and as a result are not able to access the usual comforts that might be provided by friends or family.  To help people have a more comfortable stay, we are appealing to local organisations who may be able to help with products that could go in comfort packs.”

The Trust hopes to start distributing the packs week commencing Monday 6 April.

Any organisation who could support this, please contact the Trust by emailing pcca@tgh.nhs.uk or calling 07766297853 to arrange delivery or collection of goods.
