Children having operations at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS FT can travel to their operations in style being taken by unicorn.
Sparkles the unicorn was purchased for the Children’s Unit by a member of staff, Sharon Camkin, Governance Lead Women and Children’s, who knitted scarves to raise the money. Many of the scarves were purchased by staff at the Trust.
Staff in the Children’s Unit are using the unicorn and carriage to take children to theatre when booked in for surgery.
Patient, 10 month old Bella Stradomsky thoroughly enjoyed playing with Sparkles during a recent stay in the Children’s Unit at Tameside Hospital. Bella’s mum Danielle Stradomsky said, “Having fun things to play with does ease the children and keeps them entertained. Bella loves it!”
Sharon said, “Here at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS FT we know how stressful having an operation can be for a child, so we want to make it as fun as possible. Thanks to everyone who bought a scarf and made this possible.”
